										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Before we begin, does the phrase &#8220;good news/bad news&#8221; bring flashes of <a href="http://abc.go.com/primetime/afv/index?pn=player&amp;itemId=7069386">America&#8217;s Funniest Videos</a> to mind for anyone else?  You know, during the Daisy Fuentes, John Fugelsang run?  I may have Tivo&#8217;d  one or two episodes.  Maybe by &#8220;one or two&#8221; I mean that I may have religiously Tivo&#8217;d AFV re-runs on several channels until they began taking up the precious space I needed for Ugly Betty&#8230;  That stock of AFV always did the trick on <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">$&amp;^**@</span> rainy days.  We&#8217;ll add that to things I miss about the states&#8230;  I can&#8217;t get AFV on the telly in London.</p>
<p>Back to the point.</p>
<p>Good news: On Saturday we slept until almost nine.  I went to the gym.  Before hitting the shower, I popped over to this new website I found via <a href="http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2009/07/weee-are-champions.html">Cake Wrecks</a> &#8211; for dinner ideas.  <a href="http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/">Pioneer Woman</a> may be an omnivore, but I am getting pretty crafty at adapting recipes &#8211; and that recipe with apricot preserves and ketchup was intriguing enough to have me making a grocery list.</p>
<p>Bad news: I got distracted by this aforementioned new website I found via Cake Wrecks.  [<em>WARNING: Ladies, click the link that follows at your own risk.  Hours may be lost.  Good news: Hours may be lost.</em>]  Pioneer Woman could be selling <a href="http://thepioneerwoman.com/blog/category/black_heelstractor_wheels/the_night_i_met_marlboro_man">her love story</a>, but she gifted it to me and you&#8230;</p>
<p>Good news: It started to rain.  I no longer felt so guilty as the time slipped by without a trip to the grocery or that shower I needed.</p>
<p>Bad news: It never stopped raining and I never got groceries, though I did manage the shower bit and a mid-day snuggle.</p>

<p><span>Unfortunately, on my trip outside I discovered how really treacherous the conditions are.  I slipped down to the grocery to grab a few necessities and found some school children pushing snow off a second story ledge onto unsuspecting passersby.  Donâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />t worry, some kind gent was urging them down&#8230;</span></p>
<p><span>It is odd to witness the news reports of the city nearly shutting completely down.  The buses arenâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />t running and only two tubes lines are, one with severe delays/partial service.  Drew got to take a snow day and work from home again.  This I find to be especially lovely.  Itâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />s nice to have a co-worker!  And heâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />ll have three home made meals two days in a row.  Whatâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />s that about?!</span></p>
<p><span>So, when one is absolutely fed up perusing vacancies and sick to death of rearranging their own CV, what does one do for a break?  I find that this site is great waste of time: <a href="http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/">CakeWrecks</a>.  I mean that in the most sincere way; it just happens to sound sarcastic and funny.  I canâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />t stop laughing.  Seriously, I am a total cake snob.  I mean, I love cake, but I recognize that baking, formulating the perfect icing, cake decorating, and cake sculpting are distinct skills each in their own right.  I donâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />t have any bones with a cake made at a discount store or one purchased at a local grocery store; I have had perfectly lovely cakes from these establishments.  (The <a href="http://www.publix.com/food/catalog/Bakery/DecoratedCakes/Information.do">Publix</a> in Smyrna, TN, actually made me two delectable vegan cakes for our going away party in October!)  However, operating within your scope of expertise is key.  Iâ€<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />ll let Jen (at CakeWrecks) do the rest of the talking on that subject.</span></p>
