In case it means anything to you, the match we attended just happened to be the Leicester vs Saracens match at Twickenham – and it also just happened to be The Final.

You’ll be glad to know that I’ve taken on board the finer points of the game.
Lesson One: Cheer for the team of the biggest bloke in your group.

I quickly developed the warm fuzzies for something or someone called the ‘Saracens’.

Lesson Two: Be sportsman-like.
My flag boy and your flag boy should not set the others’ flag on fire.

He should also refrain from starting a fight in a platinum wig and thong underwear, however striking his fashion statement may be.

Lesson Three: Face your challenges. (Also known as a ‘scrum’. The ball eventually emerges, but sometimes piles of players happen first.)

Lesson Four: What must go forward must first go back. It’s why we study history and it’s why a painter takes a step back from her work every few strokes. In rugby, the players can run the ball forward but can only pass the ball backwards.

Lesson Five: Lift up your friends and teammates. This was my favorite bit – the line-out (pictured below). I am assured by Ade that it is highly unacceptable, and in no way cool, to refer to the line-out as choreography.

Lesson Six: Eat and drink. (Preference seems to be for junk food or food of little nutritional value.) Which brings me to my next point.
In celebration of rugby, in honor of the sponsor, and because junk food is so intricately linked to sporting events, we are giving away these little lovelies:

]]>These little lovelies will leave London by Royal Mail tomorrow.
I hope you enjoy!
]]>Could we interest you in some “Snog me Senseless” mints? What about a Keep Calm and Carry on Coaster? You know you are eyeing the Percy Pigs. These Muji items are pretty rockin’ awesome as well, if I do say so myself.
I mean, they seriously fit London in a bag. Those Japanese are so efficient.
The winner also may choose between a specialty tea or coffee!

]]>Two Saturdays ago, when J & Q were still hanging with the Huddlestons, Golden Lane Estate hosted a residents’ market (boot) sale. We had to walk through it to leave the grounds of the estate on our first mission of the day (that was Borough Market for you non-regular readers. No shame.) Getting back to the point…
As we walked past the table of a friendly neighbor, I saw them. My heart leaned toward them. Then I remembered the boys (who I assumed hate yard sale shopping even more than regular shopping) and the mission; I averted my teary, star-struck eyes from that beautiful set of lovelies to the path ahead. All day they sat in the back of my thoughts. For some reason they seemed to be just what I wanted as proof that the Huddlestons had been here – on this grand London adventure. I guess you understand those unspoken reasons why I so desperately feel the need to mark my tracks and leave something behind for others to treasure when I am gone…
When Drew realised how desperately I was longing for these silly trinkets (he did not actually call them “silly trinkets”!), he gently told me that I should march myself back to that table and get them. I grabbed Jane and nearly ran…

To have this imperfect, incomplete tea set gave me such a sense of being present in the moment – in this reality. It makes me think of of those things that my mom had around the house when I was little -Â like the wooden lady bugs and the fairy figurines – that are so oddly special to me. Â I would like to have a few of those kinds of things that mark my history, for my children to find silly or special.
Another slightly imperfect but special item caught my eye. It wasn’t meant for me, but meant for me to give away. My mother loved to give gifts and I would like to honor her in giving this treasure to someone reading this note.

For someone who collects teapots or antiques, this Midwinter Pottery piece is part of British history and makes a lovely addition to your collection. It’s also a nice gift for anyone who just likes retro stuff! (Men, don’t be shy. It’s ok for you to collect tea pots, for your, um, friend…)
You have three days to enter; a recipient will be selected by lottery on Monday at 8.00pm GMT and announced in Monday’s blog entry.
