I owe you an apology. Secondly, I owe you a debt of gratitude.
On the first point – bless your cotton socks for your unending patience with the grainy, poorly lit, fuzzy, iPhone generated photos that have graced our blog for the duration of it’s humble existence. Your sacrifice has really meant a lot to us. We are grateful that there is traffic on our website of late that outweighs the presence of these offensive photos. Please, on behalf of Drew and Jen, extend our apologies to your eyes.
Which leads me to my next point. The response that we have received in connection with the last couple of posts has been overwhelmingly heartwarming. You have been patient through the times when writing a message to the outside world felt like rubbing salt in fresh wounds. I thank you sincerely for allowing this little blog thing to pick right back up where we left it! That’s how it is with true friends, right? It’s not about the time that’s gone by… Ah, love. Twue wuv…
And now. The moment you have been waiting for. Welcome to the Flat Search Update.
I had lunch with contestant number three. Pink carpet. Next, please. Four, five, and six, refused my lunch invitations.
Tonight I saw a previously unnamed contestant which really impressed me. It’s a two bedroom flat in a converted pub building. (The pub is rumored to be owned by the grocer around the corner who is planning to open it again as a restaurant.) The flat itself is on the top (third) floor; it has been completely gutted and finished to a very high standard. But you can only get to it by the stairs. The view is very nice, there are wood floors throughout, it has an open plan kitchen/reception area, the bathtub screams Sunday+bubbles, the bedrooms are large with good storage, and the kitchen is nicely done. As for the neighborhood, it’s a quiet residential little area that is very close to the hustle and bustle. You might have guessed that it is also slightly outside our budget. This estate agent is pulling my strings. Heartstrings that is.
The big blow was finding out just seconds before entering it, that contestant number eight was let today. I was in the lift! Granted, we couldn’t figure out how to use a lift with no buttons… The agent made the call that cracked my little heart to figure out how to get in the flat when he was given the news.

Unfortunately, the beautiful journey we call flat hunting comes with the battle scars won in falling for a remarkable flat that gets snatched up by someone else first. RIP Contestant number eight ( but please call me if your new tenant’s reference checks don’t pan out!).
All hope is not lost. Big wooden door flat is still in the running. Drew should get to see that one on Saturday afternoon. I have an appointment tomorrow evening, as well, to see some things I haven’t even seen on the web yet and we might have another appointment on Saturday morning to see the one with the balcony.
But getting back to my first, point…
Until we are completely sorted on the flat front, I am going to take pleasure in learning how to use my NEW CAMERA! This is how I will make it up to you that until now you’ve been tortured and raked over the coals with our photos. Drew has picked out a sexy little number that should more than do the trick for my simple updates. You should expect to hear more about this as soon as I can fake the lingo. It’s almost too good to be true.
You can only get the word of the day on the website.

Second……from me, not Sassy…..
yes…..you can love something that was never yours that you never saw….etc. Remember when we were house hunting and i fell in love with one house….lost it and now the one I have is the BOMB!!!???? Try to enjoy the hunt> pretend you are shopping for me….so stay in the boundaries that you set out to begin with….like Location, Price, Furnished
stuff like that.
Thirdly, I love that your hubby got you a new camera! I have really enjoyed mine and I had no idea how much I would use it!!
Love you, Donna
ps. you too Drew!
Dude all of this flat talk is just too good to be true!! I can’t wait for more pictures! What kind of camera did you guys get?? I am somewhat of an amateur photog. We received a Nikon D3000 this Christmas from the 007 parents. I am learning how to use it slowly. I only wish I was in London visiting so I could use it there! “Le sigh” maybe Mr.007 and I need to start a London fund!
Thanks, sis. I am back in reality today. Gina is testing out the camera. I hope she has something to report soon. Which, btw Ashley, is a Canon (Power Shot) SX200 IS. Whatever that means. I Lurve it, to use your word. Do I even have permission to do that?!
I think both of you ladies should start a London Fund!
Happy Hunting! Can’t wait to see what type of photos come out of that new camera. You have needed one for a while. So glad that your photographic genius will be gracing the blog pages. 🙂
